Adulting Series #6: Finding My Rhythm Again

Adulting Series #6: Finding My Rhythm Again

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about momentum and how it doesn’t always start with giant, life-changing leaps, but with tiny, intentional choices. Whether it’s putting together a miniature model, labeling a jar at home, or finally showing up for my physical health again, adulting this season is all about building things step-by-step.

And honestly? It feels really good to feel excited about things again.

Overcoming the Model Kit Fear

For the longest time, I was genuinely intimidated by model kits. I’d look at Gunpla kits—with their endless runners, intricate tiny pieces, and specialized tools—and immediately think, "Nope, I am definitely going to break something or ruin it." The barrier to entry just felt way too high for a complete beginner.

Then I gave Blokees a try.

Building small model kits like Blokees turned out to be the exact gateway I needed. They’re super approachable, snap together easily, and give you that instant, satisfying feeling of accomplishment without the overwhelming stress of a 100-step manual. It taught me that you don’t have to dive into the hardest version of a hobby right away. Starting small is valid and just as fun.

Now I get the hype!

Fresh Energy at Work

That feeling of starting fresh hasn't just been in my hobbies, and it’s spilled over into my work life, too. I’ve recently kicked off a few brand-new projects at work, and the excitement has been such a welcome jolt to my routine.

There’s something so invigorating about the early stages of a project: brainstorming from a blank slate, mapping out workflows, and seeing ideas slowly take shape. After periods of just going through the motions, having new challenges to tackle has given me a fresh wave of creative focus and energy.

Crafting My Space with Cricut Joy

On the home front, my creative outlet has been my Cricut Joy. I’ve been diving back into crafting and making custom labels for things around the house.

There’s a quiet therapy in organizing your living space with things you made yourself. Turning plain containers into sleek, labeled jars might seem like a small adulting moment, but making my home feel intentionally curated gives me a grounded sense of calm when everything else feels busy.

Getting Back to PT (and Choosing Sustainable Health)

The biggest step I’ve taken recently, though, is for my physical well-being. After going through a period of grief, my health goals took a back seat. Grief has a way of taking a heavy toll on your body, and for a while, I just didn’t have the physical or mental bandwidth to keep up with appointments or exercise. I ended up skipping my sessions altogether.

But recently, I reached back out and started meeting with my Physical Therapist again.

This time around, we’re focusing on making my fitness goals concrete, realistic, and most importantly, sustainable. No extreme routines, no pressuring myself to catch up on lost time. Just listening to my body, building back strength, and creating habits that I can actually maintain for the long haul.

Grief isn't something you just "finish," but returning to PT feels like a gentle, compassionate way of taking care of the body that carried me through it.

Moving Forward, Piece by Piece

If adulting has taught me anything lately, it’s that you don’t need to have every single piece of the puzzle solved today. Sometimes, it’s just about snapping one small model piece into place, cutting one sticker, starting one project, or showing up for one appointment.

Here’s to small wins, exciting fresh starts, and giving ourselves space to rebuild at our own pace!
